Opera Lafayette Revives 19th-century Orientalist Opera Lalla Roukh with Multicultural Collaboration
Washington, DC - Continuing its exploration of opéra-comique, Opera Lafayette makes its first venture into 19th-century opera with the Modern World Premiere of Félicien David's Lalla Roukh (1862), and orientalist fantasy based on the romance "Lalla Rookh" by Thomas Moore. This staged production will be directed by Bernard Deletré, and features costumes by prominent Indian fashion designer Poonam Bhagat, lighting design by Helen-Hayes award winning designer Colin K. Bills, and dance by acclaimed Indian dance troupe Kalanidhi Dance.

Opera Lafayette Conductor and Artistic Director Ryan Brown to receive La Médaille d'Or du Rayonnement Culturel from La Renaissance Française
Washington, DC - After a 2011-2012 season that included his international debut at Versailles with Opera Lafayette and his debut conducting the Seattle Symphony in a program including works by Reben and Francœur, Ryan Brown will receive La Médaille d'Or du Rayonnement Culturel from La Ressaissance Française in a private ceremony on May 31, 2012, at the residence of the Ambassador of France to the United States.

Opera Lafayette Announces 2011-2012 Season with Performances at Versailles, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center
Washington, DC - Opera Lafayette's 17th season features the modern world premiere of Le Roi et le fermier (1762) by composer Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny and librettist Michel-Jean Sedaine. With a staged production of this work, Opera Lafayette will make its debut at the Opéra Royal at Versailles as part of the Château de Versailles Spectacles on February 4 and 5, 2012.
